"Reflection upon oneself creates a beautiful space through which a new you is created, freeing the ghosts of the past."

This article was inspired by a comment made to one of my posts by Denise Hayman Loa ... In the post, entitled "Reinventing The LinkedIn Profile,"https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/cyndi-wilkins-reinventing-linkedin-profile-cyndi-wilkins?trk=prof-post, I briefly summarize what it is that I do as a healing practitioner... Denise states, "I agree this is a great way to present what you do! Makes me want to know how your journey got you to this stage in life. Very interesting."

Well, that comment sent me on a journey back in time, so to speak, in search of the pieces of a grand puzzle that make up the person who I am at this stage of the game. It is a never ending story, with twists and turns along the way that havechallenged me to the core. I have searched the darkest corners of my mind to recover the broken shards that had lodged themselves into hidden realms of my sub-conscious. gently coaxing them back to life. I have written about the subject of emotional healing in former posts, so my apologies to those who might find it redundant.

"In order to recover our fragmented selves, we must be willing to excavate them, piece by piece, and free them from the inner prison of our minds."

Sometimes we just don’t know how strong we are until something breaks us, shattering the collective pieces of ourselves into a fragmented puzzle that only we can reassemble. It is quite a daunting task to step up and reflect upon the things we would rather forget. These are the moments that haunt us, rattling the cages of our sub-conscious minds where we have imprisoned them, sometimes for decades. They are angry...they are in pain...and they beg you release. When you are ready to reflect upon these moments, a beautiful space is created for a new you to emerge, freeing you from the ghosts of the past.

In as much as our thoughts and/or attitudes about our experiences manifest in the outer landscape of our lives, so too, do they manifest in our bodies. They are constantly sending us signals about the status of our inner environment, especially when there is an imbalance in the system. Issues we are continually trying to avoid will eventually present themselves as discomfort in the mind and the body. The longer they are repressed, the greater an opportunity for an illness to take hold and hijack our lives. I had been a POW of my own pain long enough. The only one coming to my rescue would be me.

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall; All the King's horses and all the King's men, couldn't put Humpty together again."

Apparently I was Humpty Dumpty, and in order to put myself back together again, I knew I would have to do some digging. The pieces were buried so deep, I found it difficult to breathe. They choked me when I went diving for them, so angry at being left for dead. The deeper I went, the harder it was for them to bubble to the surface for air. But I had made the decision to confront my demons, so I needed to have a strong support system in place to help guide me through the process. However, your friends, family, doctors and therapists can only be there to help support you through such a process, but they cannot heal you. That job is yours alone.

So often we go to the doctor hoping they can fix what is broken. When they cannot, we become frustrated and depressed. However, if we recognize the connection between our psychological state and the physiological impact it has on our bodies, we begin to understand that we have the power over our condition and need not be the victims of our circumstances. We are powerful beings, and our bodies have an intelligence all their own. It is all about restoring the balance by emptying our inner closets of all those skeletons we left hanging around, bones intact, and claiming ownership for every decision we have made along the way.

"The key to healing of any kind is one's own willingness to allow it by making small changes in attitude."

I am no Psychologist, but I do like to consider myself a student of the game. Our mental attitude seems to have the defining effect on the outcome of every aspect of our lives. From following a particular career path to choosing a life partner, our mental attitudes attract the perfect mate. Even if we are facing dire circumstances, we can do so with humility and grace. But if we have an attitude of helplessness, then we are helpless. The “Law of Attraction” being what it is, we will attract other helpless souls to our inner circle. Then we become participants in a feeding frenzy of collective misery. We get back what we put out there, so why not be hopeful rather than helpless.

The key to healing of any kind one's own "willingness" to allow it by making small changes in attitude. It moves us forward, just like walking briskly with our heads held high, has an amazing "feel good" chemical effect on our bodies. Having a healthy mindset helps us to make better decisions. And those decisions can be the difference between succumbing to, and surviving trauma of any kind.

"We do not need magic to transform our world; We carry all the power inside of ourselves already." -J.K. Rowling

Peaceful looking image isn't it? If just looking at an image like this creates a sense of calm for you, imagine how much better your body would feel if you were the person on the table, being nurtured by the skillful hands of an empathetic practitioner.I have utilized the practice of massage and bodywork, in conjunction with periods of psychotherapy as well, to greatly enhance my own process of healing over a period of many years. It has provided for me a safe and nurturing environment for emotional trauma to be released in a healthy, controlled manner. In fact, I became such a believer in the positive physiological and psychological effects this work, that I left a very secure, albeit rather toxic job, after 15 years in favor of becoming a practitioner of the healing arts that I had come to depend on to restore my health and well being. Working through and releasing the pain I was in was like being resurrected from the dead. I would eventually become the person I most needed to be...My own healer.

"You are the master of your own emotions, with the ability to recreate yourself anew in every moment of your life."

Choosing a qualified therapist for this type of emotional release work is very important in assuring you the best care for your individual needs. A body worker must have sufficient training in the physiological effects of psychological trauma on the body. They must also have a well developed ability to stay grounded and focused in the present moment in order to assist you in doing so as well, as the release of trauma from the body can create some discomfort for you both. A highly skilled and empathetic practitioner is a very powerful partner in your healing process, but you are the master of your own emotions with the ability to recreate yourself anew in every moment of your life.

Excavating your inner obstacles takes time and patience, but the rewards of stepping up to the challenge brings with it a sense of peace and resolution, so that all those inner conflicts can finally be put to rest. My journey has brought me here to you now...To this place...On this platform... To share with you how I was able to find true healing and reinvent myself on all levels...Of my Mind, my Body and my Soul. I wish you safe passage on your journey home and my best to you all for a very happy and healthy New Year!

"Believe in yourself- in the power you have to control your own life, day by day; Believe in the strength that you have deep inside, and your faith will help show you the way."

Blessings,

Cyndi
