Healing Modalities

The Healing Element offers clients multiple healing modalities.  The foundation of every massage is myofascial release.  Other complementary techniques such as polarity therapy, magnet therapy, and Body Talk are used to achieve other benefits.  Below you can learn more about each of these techniques.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE:

The most common cause of musculoskeletal pain is myofascial trigger points. As a skilled practitioner, I am able to locate and inactivate these points to address the source of pain, which often presents itself elsewhere in the body. Treating the trigger point itself releases the hard contraction on the muscle fibers that it is a part of , hence releasing the pain response. Even the most long standing, chronic situations will experience significant improvement.

POLARITY THERAPY:

The focus here is in balancing the body's electromagnetic field by using very gentle manipulations and skillful placement of the hands using whatever charge necessary (positive, negative or neutral) to rebalance any areas of issue. All polarity contacts being bi-polar, it is necessary to have both hands making contact with the polar opposite to release pain and discomfort from overstimulated areas, and to energize areas of stagnation. It is essentially a resetting of the circuits to either activate or inactivate a given pole of its corresponding energetic function to restore, relax and revitalize the body.

MAGNET THERAPY:

Similar to the focus of polarity in balancing the body's electromagnetic field, I utilize magnet therapy in much the same way as traditional Chinese medicine uses acupuncture. By postioning magnets along the meridians (or energy channels), I am able to promote proper circulation and energetic flow throughout the body. If energetic flow is blocked or slowed, a stagnation occurs creating various symptoms often times resulting in illness or injury. Using magnets instead of needles is a very useful, non-invasive solution to effecting the same healing results as the needles themselves.

BODY TALK:

Body talk is a very comprehensive, effective, safe and simple energy modality that assists in the rebalancing of the emotional system and its physiological effect on the body. It is a unique health care modality in that it addresses the complete body/mind complex in a truly integrative and holistic way. By recognizing the emotional body's effect on its physical counterpart, we initiate the body's own innate ability to heal itself of the conditions caused by everyday life stresses. Too often we look only at the physical body when pain or illness occur. It is helpful to remember that the disease process originates in the emotional body. The focus here is in maintaining synchronicity within the body/mind system to acheive optimal health.

Certification: Advanced Muscular Therapy

Services include:

Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Magnet therapy, Prenatal, Shiatsu, Aroma Therapy, Energy and Nutritional Healing, Body Talk Access, Reflexology, Injury recovery.

How I Got Started: I have always had a fascination with the body's innate ability to heal itself by focusing on the re-balancing of it's systems. I address the complete body/mind complex in a truly integrative, holistic way.

I am a licensed massage therapist and sole proprietor or The Healing Element Massage, located in downtown Marblehead Ma, practicing the art and science of bodywork for more than 15 years. Through massage therapy and energetic bodywork, I am an empathetic partner helping my clients heal from physical pain due to injury or emotional pain and trauma.

My approach to healing is in recognizing the mind and body work together in creating the health of all of its systems. If this delicate balance is disturbed, the body will most certainly manifest expressions of inner conflict at the physical level. The focus of energy work is an acknowledgment of one's feelings and experiences, allowing space for reflection, and ultimately release of toxic emotion through gentle manipulation of the body.

For those suffering chronic conditions, a slow, deep tissue approach is more effective in releasing deep-seated issues as it triggers the trophotropic tuning of the hypothalamus, inducing a deep state of neuromuscular relaxation and calming of the autonomic nervous system.

The ultimate goal is in getting my clients to recognize the unconscious energies at work on those inner levels so they can be expressed and released in a safe and nurturing environment, providing healing on all levels of mind body and soul.

About The Healing Element

Testimonial from Lynda Spiegel

"I want to share one of many memorable experiences from my weekend in Marblehead, MA with Deb Helfrich and Cyndi Wilkins.

As friends who had not met face-to-face previously, we ladies had long talks while walking along the beach, dining al fresco over chowder and lobster, sitting outdoors snacking on homemade bread, cheese, wine and fruit. Our solopreneur business models were but one topic of conversation, but as happens with compatible souls, business and personal issues intermingled, and Deb listened thoughtfully (as is her wont) as I lamented the chronic musculoskeletal pain I suffer from as a result of having run too often, for too long, at too old an age. Deb thought Cyndi could help, and suggested I ask her as soon as she joined us on our walk.

Despite it being a Sunday on a holiday weekend when Cyndi was taking a well-earned rest from myriad issues of her own, she wasted no time taking me home, warming up her massage table, and carefully and gently locating the trigger points that were causing my pain. While Cyndi is wicked strong (as they say in New England), her touch was gentle, and I was astonished at how adeptly she figured out that my pain involved some significant nerve damage as well as spastic muscles. A significant part of her therapeutic approach was the application of small magnets to the trigger points to counteract the spasticity, which she recommended I leave on as long as possible.

Cyndi's approach is holistic, but no nonsense. She told me in no uncertain terms that I had to give up running - something that many doctors and physical therapists had told me before, but coming from Cyndi, for once didn't make me dissolve into tears.

And back to networking. Were it not for Deb, I would not have met Cyndi. And now that I know her, all of you in my network can explore her wisdom about our bodies and how to heal them and keep them healthy."

I feel a ton of gratitude for the existence of Cyndi. She gave me a priceless gift in accepting me into her family, at a time when I needed a safe harbor. What I have experienced to be true is that her skills and talents for therapeutic massage all come with a dose of love and caring that profoundly affect the bodymind of everyone she touches.

This testimonial is a few weeks behind schedule. But here is the thing. I can still embody the experience of getting a massage from Cyndi. Not many experiences stick with us as clearly today as they did 30+ days ago. This quality of these lasting effects is exactly why Cyndi is a master at her craft.

Her heart and soul come pouring out of her hands, forearms and elbows... all the tools of her body that she employs for healing effect. She is tremendously skilled - knowing just how to manipulate the body, along with a sense of what may be energetically out of balance and need to be addressed.

It was a truly great experience to get to feel what my friend does for her living. One that will stick with me for a very long time, indeed. As skilled a muscular therapist as Cyndi undoubtedly is, the reason she is a master healer is that she is able to also adjust your heart in the process.

Whatever may hurt, is undoubtedly causing just as much mental anguish as pure physical pain, and working with someone, like Cyndi who exudes trust and concern can diminish the thoughts of pain, as you surrender in the certainty that a capable healing facilitator is now on your side.

The simple act of caring for someone, their pain, listening to what they need to say, is not often part of the lives we live today.

When this capacity is bundled within someone with a talent for massage, therapeutic results skyrocket.

I urge everyone to consider surrendering to the powers of massage with Cyndi. You just may be joyously surprised at what else will unfurl in your life.

In addition to my work in injury recovery, my approach involves initiating the body's own natural healing response to the physical and emotional triggers caused by everyday life stresses. I am able to gently locate and inactivate stubborn pain points within the body's tissues to create significant improvement in even the most longstanding conditions. Chronic pain is most always present in the emotional body.
